Privacy Policy
Effective 17 October 2026
DriveDeck is a car display app for iPad with an optional iPhone companion. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The developer does not collect, store or sell any personal data. This policy explains what the app uses on your devices and the few requests it makes to other services so it can work.
What stays on your devices
- Settings, saved places (Home, Work, recent destinations), trip computers, odometer and service reminders.
- Acceleration runs, OBD-II connection logs and map road data cached for faster loading.
- Dashcam recordings made on the iPhone. A clip leaves the phone only when you save it to Photos, share it yourself, or send it to your own iPad over your local network.
Uninstalling DriveDeck deletes all of this.
Location
DriveDeck uses your location for the map, navigation, speed, trips and weather. On an iPhone it also sends your position directly to DriveDeck on your own iPad over your local network or Personal Hotspot, so a Wi-Fi iPad can use the phone's GPS. To answer requests, your position or a search is sent without any identifier to:
- Apple Maps for the map, place search and driving routes (Apple's privacy policy applies).
- Open-Meteo for the weather forecast where you are.
- OpenStreetMap Overpass servers for the shape, lanes and speed limits of nearby roads.
These services receive the request only to answer it. DriveDeck does not keep a location history anywhere other than your own trip totals.
Camera, LiDAR and microphone
Road Vision and the dashcam use the iPhone camera, LiDAR where available, and, only if you turn on sound for the dashcam, the microphone. Recognition of cars, people, traffic lights and signs runs entirely on the iPhone. Images and sound are never uploaded. Only the results (for example, a car 20 m ahead) and, if you open the live view, a small preview picture are sent to your own iPad over your local network.
Bluetooth, local network and motion
Bluetooth connects to an OBD-II adapter in your car to read engine data. The local network connects your iPhone and iPad. Motion sensors draw the G-meter and tell Road Vision where the horizon is. This data stays on your devices.
Apple Music and Photos
With your permission DriveDeck shows and controls what is playing in Apple Music and lets you browse your library on the device. With your permission it adds the dashcam clips you save to your photo library. It cannot read your other photos.
Websites in Theater and Browser
Theater and Browser open websites such as YouTube in an in-app web view. Those sites handle your data under their own privacy policies, as they would in Safari.
Children
DriveDeck is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
